gold bars gold stock priceIn case you haven’t been following the recent downturn of the economy and house prices, finding an area to invest in these days can really be difficult. Investors are looking for alternative investment vehicles that aren’t linked to the financial or home industries. But thats the least of our worries! The USD$ is dropping from the sky in value. It was just over a year ago when $1 Dollar was worth $1.25 CAD$. Guess what! Now $1USD is worth $1CAD - the prices are now par, meaning that in close to just 1 year, the USD Dollar has dropped in price by nearly 25% when compared to the value of other currencies.

So what do you do when you can’t by stocks, nor can you sit with your money in the bank and have it maintain its buying power?

Its time to look to commodities or precious metals so that you can move your monetary investment out of paper and into something that actually has intrinsic value. This includes Gold, Silver, Natural Gas ETFs, Corn and Ag ETFs, and many other options. Today I invested several thousand dollars into the gold ETF that trades under the symbol GLD. Other options that I am considering are Silver: SLV and the Market Vectors–Agribusiness ETF: MOO.

Domains that may make 5-10% RETURN LOOK MIGHTY NICE IN 2008

Investing into domain names is the key.

It is NEVER to late to start.

But not if the investment goes down….

I am wondering what need to happen/change for the dollar be stronger again. The president change can help?
I am paid in dollars for most of my biz and when converted in Euros I am losing a lot of money… Grrr!

Not sure gold be the solution and more when it is now very expensive. It was a good idea few years ago and sell it now, but not the inverse.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think my main point in wanting to write this post was that just as people look to the domain market as an alternative investment vehicle, we should also look to other markets as well. I sure hope the dollar picks up over the next year, but there’s some good defensive investments that I’ll be making in case it doesn’t.
