At the upcoming Home Media Expo 2007, the HD DVD Promotional Group will be announcing the recent Nielson netratings of HD DVD hardware sales being up by 37%.
Sofware is also up by 20% from the first to the second quarter of this year. Blu-Ray hardware sales on the other hand were down by 27%, which in reality is an over 50% swing in sales differences.
Aggressive marketing and cheaper HD DVD players are probably causing sales of HD DVDs to skyrocket and we may have a glimpse of who the winner will be in the format war. On the flip side of things, Blu-ray is catching on, by giving away free movies and plans are underway to cut prices on standalone players.
