Rediff.com To Be Bought by Google or Yahoo?

redifflogo.gifI’ve seen some increased activity in the stock of Rediff that trades on the NASDAQ stock market. Rediff is one of India’s largest newspaper websites and continues to have a stranglehold on the PORTAL market in India. Their recently launched user submitted and generated content section has been a great hit, users can submit audio and images or even full length videos and share them with others. In a country where free speech isn’t exactly assumed, a website with features like this is really breaking the mold in a very traditional society.

Rediff is the Answer to enter the Indian Market and Gain Market Share

Currently Rediff enjoys a huge amount of reach in India, offering content such as entertainment news, videos, blogs, email and 100s of other types of content such as dating information and other hot topics. Yahoo would likely be the company to buy Rediff if a deal were to happen as they are very entrenched in the portal business already. Google and MSN would love to have more eyeballs and gain a presence more so than they already have. Current valuations of Rediff would put their valuation of nearly $1 Billion.
