> HD DVD Beating Blu-Ray in the Format war?

At the upcoming Home Media Expo 2007, the HD DVD Promotional Group will be announcing the recent Nielson netratings of HD DVD hardware sales being up by 37%.

This weeks DNjournal update had some great domain sales reported!poker.jpgPoker.de finally was finalized fromt he NICIT.com auction at DomainFest Amsterdam, the final price was €695,000 ($957,937). The buyer was PartyPoker.com, one of the best end user sales that I’ve seen in a while.

> Rediff.com To Be Bought by Google or Yahoo?

I’ve seen some increased activity in the stock of Rediff that trades on the NASDAQ stock market. Rediff is one of India’s largest newspaper websites and continues to have a stranglehold on the PORTAL market in India.

Just as I mentioned that Yahoo maybe looking for companies to invest in they have announced that they bought at least a 35% share in an advertising and search driven portal in India called Tyroo.

Blog Network Buying: b5Media Buys Level9

We live in interesting times when the acquisition of a few blogs can make headlines.  b5Media announced today that they are buying the Level9 Group of blogs, which operates a network of eight blogs, including the popular Starked group and include Dejuiced and Sirened, neither of which I have actually even heard of.  My guess is that the Level9 guys are in high demand and simply were boughtout to bring their talene over to b5Media.

Bloggers are Samsung’s Latest Marketing Target: Samsung SGH-L760 Slider Phone

Samsung today announced their SGH-L760 Slider Phone, one that is being marketed as having been Designed for Blogger to Do Mobile Blogging.

VoIP in India: JaJah Leading the Pack

I read about JaJah a while ago and it seems that they have made headway in getting India introduced to the idea of Internet Telephone service.  They’re edgy, running campaigns where they offer free service if you refer your friends, this type of activity has convinced many people to sign up already.  The market that they are going after consists of nearly 100 million people that have both an Internet connection and a phone (which is required for this type of service).

Disney’s Social Network Goliath: DGamer

Disney announced a new social network for kids called DGamer, but it’s not expected to be launched until May 2008, so it’s a bit on the horizon….

    Thanks for the coverage of the Level9 acquisition Scott :)

    I expect you’ll see more consolidation in the industry over the coming months, as the networks that have grown beyond the 1M$/year hump start picking up smaller (yet still stable) competitors.

    I’m not sure it’s quite headline material yet, but I do appreciate every bit of coverage ;-)
